The first Smee to land in Australia was George Smee who arrived as a convict on the ship "Henry Porcher" in 1835 having been Sentenced to Transportation for Life in Norwich, Norfolk in 1834. He was given a "Ticket of Leave" in Bathurst in 1843, and was released in September 1846.
